Can dogs eat almonds?

Only with precautions. Almonds are not acutely toxic like macadamias, but they are a poor treat: dogs cannot chew them properly, so whole nuts risk choking or esophageal blockage, and their high fat triggers pancreatitis in susceptible dogs. Salted or flavored almonds add sodium and seasoning problems. If you want a nut treat, a piece of unsalted peanut is easier to digest.

Watch for vomiting, gas, abdominal pain, choking. Symptoms may appear within hours; when in doubt, call your vet.

Assess how much was eaten and whether seeds, pits, shells or seasoning were included. Small plain amounts usually need monitoring only; large or seasoned amounts warrant a call to your vet.
